There is no method that can completely guarantee the possibility of conceiving twins, because most cases of twins depend on genetic factors and natural coincidence.

However, there are several factors that can affect your chances of conceiving twins:

  1. Genetic Factors: If you have a family history of multiple pregnancies, your chances of having multiple pregnancies may be higher. However, this also does not guarantee that you will experience twin pregnancies.
  2. Age: Older women tend to have a higher chance of having multiple pregnancies, especially if they are in their 30s or 40s.
  3. Ethnic Factors: Some ethnic groups have a higher tendency to have multiple pregnancies. For example, women of African descent have a higher chance of having multiple pregnancies than other ethnic groups.
  4. Number of Previous Pregnancies: Women who have had previous pregnancies, especially if they have had multiple pregnancies previously, may have a higher chance of experiencing multiple pregnancies again.
  5. Use of Reproductive Technology: Some reproductive technologies, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or the use of drugs to stimulate ovulation, may increase the chance of multiple births.

Twin births can occur when two different eggs are fertilized by two sperm cells. Even so, twins can also occur because one egg cell that is fertilized by one sperm cell divides into two.

Twin births can have different sexes, but they can also be the same. However, twins with different sexes or called non-identical twins are more common.

A husband and wife's chance of having twins can actually be influenced by various factors and one of them is genetic factors.

Couples who have a family history of multiple births also have a greater chance of having twins, especially if this history comes from the female side.

How To Get Twins

1. Undergoing IVF
The IVF program can be an option for having twins. This method is the process of combining egg and sperm cells to form an embryo in a laboratory room, not in a woman's uterus.
The embryos resulting from the fusion process will then be transferred to the woman's uterus and grow into babies. Through the IVF program, the chances of you and your partner getting twins will be even greater because more than 1 embryo can be placed in the uterus.

2. Consuming fertility drugs
Consuming fertility drugs is also believed to increase the chances of having twins. This type of drug is known to increase the chance that you will release more than one egg at the same time.
This means that indirectly this method can increase the chances of having non-identical twins.

3. Participate in an artificial insemination program
The next way to get twins is to undergo an artificial insemination program. This is done by injecting sperm into the uterus. To increase the effectiveness of this program, you will usually also be asked to take fertility drugs.

It is important to remember that having multiple pregnancies can also carry higher health risks, both for the mother and the unborn babies. If you are planning to become pregnant or have questions about the possibility of conceiving multiples, you should consult an obstetrician or health professional who can provide further information and tailor advice to your health situation.
