At first Rivan was a person who was not very interested or did not like playing volleyball. However, when he saw the condition of his tall body in high school, he tried to play volleyball as a sport that supports his body.
Rivan Nurmulki started trying to play volleyball in 2012 at the age of 17. The longer he played volleyball, he finally started to enjoy playing the sport.

The many tournaments he participated in made his ability to play volleyball continue to improve and develop.
The development of the skills that he got can be seen from the strength of his strokes and height, but at that time he had not mastered the basic theory of playing volleyball such as volleyball game rules, volleyball formations, and so on.
# Rivan Nurmulki's life
Rivan is a child from a broken home. His mother, Ika Nuryati and Rivan's father are now separated. The mother who supports Rivan still lives in the C1 Pemenang Selatan area and his father lives in Rantau Jering, Masurai District.
His father, Nasrin, who is 53 years old, lives in Pasar Bawah Bangko, once told him about his son's early path to success.
When Rivan was previously appointed by the Marangin Team to take part in the Jambi Provincial Sports Week (Porda), before he left for the designated place, he first raised money by selling chickens to buy gasoline.
# Rivan Nurmulki's training
If we look at the history of Rivan Nurmulki's training, then the answer is like we were training in the village. Rivan is a child born in 1995, he trains like most other teenagers.
He learned to play volleyball in his hometown in the village of Tanjung Benuang, South Pamenang District. The teenager in his hometown practiced volleyball on the field in the village.
However, Rivan's development in playing volleyball is one step ahead of his friends. So he was appointed to play in the Kapolda Cup Jambi event.
Rivan's talent while playing for Kapoldar was monitored by a talent scout from the Surabaya Samator club. With the way Rivan played, they were interested in inviting Rivan to join the Surabaya Samator club.
Rivan was finally invited to join the club. At that time Rivan's height reached 194 cm. This height is the ideal size for volleyball players.
# Rivan & Surabaya Semator Club
When Rivan was offered to join the Samator club, he immediately joined the team. The reason is that the Samator Club is a national sports club, so Rivan is interested in joining.
When he joined the team, he was forced to be away from his parents because he had to move to Sidoarjo, which was Samator's headquarters.
Even though they have to live far from their parents, Rivan's parents fully support their son to pursue his dream of becoming a professional volleyball player. While contracting with Samator, his parents happily accepted.

When his motivation was weak, he met one of his idols playing volleyball. Finally, slowly he started to like volleyball practice at the Samator club.
Rivan's idol name is Ayip Rizal. Ayip told Rivan that if he practiced hard and continued to be consistent in his training, then he would have a chance to enter the national team.
So from there he continued to be passionate about volleyball practice. When training and competing, Ayip Rizal often gives advice to Rivan so he can correct his mistakes.
Ayip Rizal also shared his experience and gave experience to Rivan, so he is still eager to practice and continue to improve the skills he has.
# Rivan Nurmulki's achievements
Rivan is a shy volleyball player. In 2016 at the Proliga event, he was awarded the MVP (Most Valuable Player).
When the committee summoned Rivan to give his appreciation, he did not come to the extent that the committee repeated several times. Because he is shy, no matter how many times he is repeated he still doesn't get on the podium. Finally his team mates forced him to get on the podium so he could take the award.

In 2017, in the Asian championship, Rivan Nurmulki also managed to show off again by getting the Best Opposite Spiker award, where he defeated other Asia's best speakers.
With the awards that Rivan has received, it is believed that he will have a long career playing volleyball.
At a young age, coach Samator Ibarsjah Djanu reminded the player who is 194 cm tall not to be easily satisfied because he has won many awards.
Ibarsjah Djanu asked Rivan to continue to develop his skills in playing volleyball, especially becoming a spike.
The training he did was to become one of the backbones of the Indonesian National Team in the future to replace his seniors.
The reason is that the coach wants national volleyball glory like in the era of Djonni Sugianto and his friends.
# Rivan & State Police School (SPN)
A volleyball player born in Jambi on July 16, 1995 who has won many achievements, was selected to attend the National Police School [SPN].

Three times a week, the 21-year-old player has to do quite heavy training at the State Police School. Apart from that, Rivan studied in college at Yos Sudarso University majoring in Management.
He attended college as a provision for his career as a police officer and also became a professional player in volleyball.
